Lottery Qualification Requirements
Green cards are usually only issued to a small group of selected people through a complicated and expensive process. However, for persons entering the green card lottery most of these restrictions have been removed.
Persons wishing to participate in the lottery only need to meet two basic criteria:
1. You must be born in an eligible country as defined by the US government. Current nationality and/or residency is not considered for this program. Only your place of birth is considered. Currently all countries in the world are eligible except the following: Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Inida, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Phillipines, Poland, Russia, South-Korea, United Kingdom, and Vietnam. If you were born in one of the above listed countries, please click here for "Alternative chargeability"
2. You must have either:
a high school education (12 years) or an equivalent or
two years of work experience in a US-recognized profession.
3. Marital Status
If you are separated from your spouse and a court has determined the
separation, you may apply without your spouse. In this case choose
"not married".
If you are not sure whether you meet those qualifications, please take
the free online assessment or contact us.
It should be noted that despite widespread rumors, to participate in
this program there are not any requirements regarding:
Any family relationships in the United States
Current job offers
Specific amounts of money

Minimum or maximum age requirements
